Effect of Xiaoyao powder on PKC activity and concentration of Ca~(2+) in hippocampal synaptosome of multi-stress model rat

Objective: To observe the influence of Xiaoyao powder on the concentration of Ca~(2+) and PKC activity in hippocampal synaptosome of multi-stress model rat.Methods: Wistar rats were randomly allocated to five groups.All the rats except those of normal control were replicated to chronic multi-stress models.After the administration,the hippocampal homogenate was taken and loaded by Fura-2,the concentration of Ca~(2+) were detected by fluorimetry and the PKC activity by agarose-gel electrophoresis.Results: Compared with normal control group,the concentration of Ca~(2+) and PKC activity in hippocampal synaptosome of both model groups were increased(P0.01).Compared with model groups,both group of Xiaoyao powder were decreased(P0.05 or P0.01).Conclusion: These observation suggests multi-stress model can increase the concentration of Ca~(2+) and PKC activity in hippocampal synaptosome of rats,and Xiaoyao powder can counteract such changes.
