Analysis and forecast of diabetes mortality from the year 1991 to 2007 in Fengxian District, Shanghai.

Objective To explore trends of the diabetes mortality rate among the residents of Fengxian District, Shanghai. Methods The data of death attributed to diabetes from 1991—2007 in Fengxian district were analyzed, the trend of the death rate was studied and forecasted by linear regression equation. Results The diabetes mortality rate of residents in Fengxian District in Shanghai was 13.41 per 100 000, which was nearly increased by 3 times than the rate of 1991; and it was 12.61/100 000 in male and 14.18/100 000 in female, that was increased by 3.2 times in males, and 2.9 times in women. Besides, women's diabetes mortality was higher than men's. There was a 2.6 times increase in the constituent ratio of diabetes mortality rate. Conclusion It was on the ascendant trend for the diabetes mortality rate in residents of Fengxian District, in Shanghai, which revealed that the essentiality of diabetes prevention and control should be strengthened, so as to improve the quality of life of the patients.
