One foot out the door or two? A review of the path from turnover intentions to turnover.

The direct relationship between turnover intention and turnover has received much attention in organizational research, yet the potential mechanisms and boundary conditions between the two have received less scrutiny. In this paper, I review the extant literature that has hypothesized mediators and / or moderators of the turnover intention to turnover relationship, discuss apparent research gaps in this literature, and conclude with several recommendations for future research.
