The self-cost of farm-produced grass forage depends on the efficient performance of expensive machines within the technological complexes and is determined by this performance implementation during the operation of the forage making machinery. The performance implementation may be estimated by comparing the current values of machinery performance at a specific point of time within the work shift with the values of the ultimate capacity of this machinery. One parameter demonstrating the potential performance of a forage harvesting unit is the ultimate throughput, which depends on specific features of the work tools and the type of harvested forage crop and is limited by the power capacity of the energy device within the forage harvesting unit. As a result of studies a new method for determining the ultimate value of the throughput of a forage harvesting unit (patent of the Russian Federation №2467551 of 27.11.2012) was designed allowing toproperly determine this parameter under specific climatic and production conditions. The method features the limited number of measurements of the current values of performance indicators of a forage-making unit when harvesting different types of grass forage crops and makes use of similarity patterns of load modes of operation of the unit. The paper present the flow scheme and calculation algorithm of the ultimate throughput capacity of a forage harvesting unit with the use of real-time data obtained via navigation terminals and the system of satellite monitoring of agricultural machinery. This allows to apply the designed method and calculations in practice.
