Value of Contrast (Gd-DTPA)-Enhanced MRI-Studies in Cases of Musculoskeletal Tumors

Gadolinium-DTPA, the contrast medium used in this study, is a complex of the paramagnetic element Gd3+ chelated with DTPA (diethylene-triamine-pentaacetate). The reason for this chelation is to lower the toxicity of Gd itself and to control metabolism and excretion of the metal (1).
