Observations on the Invalid Scoring Algorithm of "NASA" and Similar Consensus Tasks: A Response

Slevin's (1978) criticism of the NASA task is groundless due to the facts that the improved group score is desirable (that it results from statistical manipulations is irrelevant), that only experiments involving people (rather than computers) can be used to make valid comparisons between group- and statistically produced decisions, and that increases in com mitment, satisfaction, and creativity can only be obtained via human group interaction.
