Dietary NCG supplementation enhances the expression of N-acetylglutamate synthase in intestine of weaning pig

2012
This study was conducted to better understanding the effect of dietary arginine and N-carbamoylglutamate (NCG) supplementation on the expression of NAGS in intestine of weaning pig. The gene of NAGS from (Landrace × Yorkshire) pigs, which encoded 368 amino acid residues showing a higher degree of sequence similarity with the "conserved domain" of human and the mouse NAGS. The results showed dietary NCG supplementation enhances both the expression of NAGS mRNA and protein in jejunum and ileum, and also enhances the concentration of serum arginine (P<0.05). These findings confirm and expand that administration of NCG could improve growth performance.
