The invention relates to a TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography) identification method of true propolis and false propolis, which comprises the following steps of: through simultaneously adopting TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography) technologies, under the situation that a chromatographic behavior of a bioactive component flavonoid compound in propolis in a chromatography system and a reference substance of the selected true propolis have the same sample size on the same spots with the same labeled concentration, contrasting the chromatographic behavior in the chromatography system and contrasting the fluorescence spot area size to the fluorescence intensity under an ultraviolet analysis lamp. The result shows that the true propolis and the false propolis in the chromatography system have similar chromatographic behavior heights but far different fluorescence spot area size and fluorescence intensity. Thereby, the true propolis and the false propolis can be identified. Therefore, the TLC identification method is sensitive, simple, accurate and reliable.
