Providing Second Chance to Students and Improving Retention

2009
All students’ learning style is not the same and traditional in-class lecture model might not be suitable or enough to all of our new generation and technology-enhanced, science and engineering students. In this paper, we have addressed this issue and laid out our current research outline. We believe students should get a “second chance” for learning the lecture material i.e. if anyone is not able to follow the in-class lecture he/she should get a chance to watch the lecture later on-demand or listen to podcasts on-the-go. Our aim is to provide more learning facilities to our students and improve students’ performance and eventually improve retention. At the same time, we have adopted technology that will not bring more loads or a significant new learning curve for educators.
