Investigation of Muay Thai Referees’ Decision-making Strategies According to Different Variables

DOI : 10.5152/rss.2019.0002 The aim of the study is to examine the decision-making strategies of Muay Thai referees. In this regard, 40 (31.3%) women and 88 (68.8%) men, who were selected by appropriate sampling method, participated in the study. The Melbourne Decision Making Questionnaire developed by Mann et al. (1998) was used to measure the Muay Thai referees’ decision-making strategies. Turkish adaptation of the scale was done by Deniz (2004), which was a Likert-type scale consisting of two parts. In statistical analysis, percentage (%) and frequency (f) methods are employed to determine the distribution of personal information. The Shapiro–Wilks normality test was applied to establish whether the data were normally distributed, and as a result of the non-parametric test conditions, Mann–Whitney U and Kruskal–Wallis tests were used to ascertain the significant differences. Consequently, a significant difference in the panic decision-making style was noted, according to the participants’ gender. It was determined that there was no significant difference between the participants’ age, sportiness and nationality in the Muay Thai branch, levels of welfare and refereeing, and level of 0.05.  Cite this article as : Demirel M, Atalay K, Şenturk A, Demirel DH, Serdar E.
