Investigation of the physico-chemical and electrochemical behaviour of bromine dissolved in AlBr3KBr molten mixtures

1985
Abstract The solubility of bromine in AlBr 3 KBr salt mixtures containing 0,25.8 and 33.4 mol. % KBr has been determined in the 370–470 K temperature range. Thermodynamic functions characterizing the dissolution process have been calculated. An investigation has been made of the effect of dissolved bromine on the molar volume of salt mixtures and their specific and molar electrical conductivity. The kinetics and the limiting stages of the anodic evolution and the cathodic ionization of bromine on a glassy carbon electrode have been studied in AlBr 3 KBr (25.8 mol.%) melt under potentiostatic and galvanostatic conditions.
