Analysis of Three-dimensional Separated Flow Using Interacting Boundary-Layer Theory
1987
An Interacting Boundary-Layer Theory (IBLT) procedure which employs a quasi-simultaneous technique to couple a finite difference representation of the viscous flow to an integral representation of the inviscid flow is presented for the analysis of incompressible three-dimensional separated flow. The model problem studied in this investigation is laminar flow over a flat plate with a protuberance. Three series of computations are made to 1) assess the accuracy of the present method and 2) examine the effect of Reynolds number on the structure of three-dimensional laminar flow.
