Anatomic Open Repair Procedures: Description of the Broström-Gould Technique

Anatomical repair of the lateral ligaments of the ankle was first described by Brostrom in 1966. Anatomical reinforcement of this was then described by Gould in 1980. There were good initial results from both author groups. There have however been many modifications of both techniques, again with excellent results. Many of these are long term.
