Effects of HACCP system implementation on productivity of swine farm

2008
In this study, we analyzed the productivity of HACCP implemented swine farms (application) compared with non-HACCP implemented swine farms (control). Parturition rate in application (86.56%) was significantly higher than that of control (82.84%). Average number of sow, total number of piglet, number of initial suckling piglet, date of weaning piglet in applications had a tendency to increase without significant. Number of weaning piglet was higher for application (9.67/per sow) compared to control (9.39/per sow). Rotating rate of sow and survival rate of piglet after weaning in all application groups (2.33/year; 88.88%) were significantly higher than those of control groups (2.29/year; 84.33%). Due to increasing of the feed cost recently, production and feed cost for shipment in applications had a tendency to increase. As conclusion, these results indicated that the implementation of HACCP system in swine farms might provide some beneficial effects such as increasing total number of piglets and the number of initial weaning piglets. Implementation of HACCP system in swine farms would provide a positive affect for pig industry.
