Corrosion inhibitors for increasing the service life of structures

Abstract Corrosion of rebar steel impacts on the economics of the civil/structural industry due to the costs of repair and rehabilitation. An estimated ~2.5 trillion US dollars per year worldwide is expected to be spent on structural repairs due to corrosion. Corrosion is an issue of prime importance where the structure is prone to corrosion, results in economic burden and a safety threat to the environment. Hence, considering the emergence of protecting or enhancing the service life of concrete structures, this chapter is mainly discusses “corrosion inhibitors for increasing the service life of structures.”
