Thispaper presents thedefinition ofanewweighted powerquality index tobeusedtocoherently evaluate thelevel ofharmonic distortion inelectrical systems andquantify theshare ofresponsibility between loads andmains. Simulation andexperimental tests carried outunder different load conditions, showtheproposed performance index gives correct infornation about theactual contribution ofanonlinear load tothevoltage quality atthepoint ofcommoncoupling (PCC).
