Optical correlation velocimetry: An aid to particle sizing by acoustic emission measurement
2012
The particle size of a particle can be acquired through signal analysis of acoustic emission measurement from impact of the particles onto a plate, provided that the impacting velocity of the particles as well as some characteristic parameters of the powder material is prior known. The authors proposed optical correlation velocimetry as an aid to acoustic emission measurement. The measuring apparatus was built for simultaneous measurement of the acoustic emission signals from impact of free-falling particles onto a plate and optical correlation velocimetry. As shown by the test results, optical correlation velocimetry can provide essential information for acoustic emission signal analysis.
