A Review on Solar based Induction Motor for Water Pumping

The shortfall in electric supply and scarcity of fossil fuel such as diesel alongwith its high costs affects the pumping requirements of irrigation; a promising substitute to conventional electricity and diesel based water pumping systems is to used solar energy for water pumping. Majorly the water pumping is done by centrifugal pump driven by induction motor.  Solar based Induction motor for water pumping is based on photovoltaic (PV) technology which converts solar energy into electrical energy to run induction motor based water pump. The main objective of the study offered in this paper is to present a inclusive literature review of solar pumping technology, discover research gaps and propose a solar power based induction motor for water pumping system.
