LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (LMS) OF EDMODO TO BOOST STUDENTS’ ENGAGEMENT IN ENGLISH CLASS

In education field, the growth of technology has been extensively developed to facilitate teaching and learning process. Teachers are expected to integrate technology into the classroom to engage the students. The utilization of technology also brings the presence of learning management system (LMS) that helps the users to organize the administration of e-learning. Edmodo, one of LMS is a free and safe educational learning network used to provide a simple way for teachers to create and manage an online classroom community as well as enables students to connect with their classmates and teachers anywhere and anytime. However, reviews on these studies are still rare. Thus this paper aimed to review 20 current studies focusing on the integration of Edmodo to boost students’ engagement into learning and ideas concerning the adoption of Edmodo in EFL environments. The review was conducted using the constant comparative method. Fourteen of articles indicated that Edmodo could help the students to learn and engage in English class. And others were about experiences and responses toward Edmodo. The review results showed that learning platform, especially Edmodo, significantly support teaching and learning activities. It will be very supportive for every person in the field of education such as students, teachers, and researchers in order to adopt this innovative technology for language learning and teaching.
