Echocardiographic detection of free mitral chordae tendineae after mitral valve replacement

Abstract We present the M-mode and two-dimensional echocardiographic findings in 2 patients who had mitral valve replacement but in whom the chordae tendineae could not be completely resected. Both echo techniques demonstrated direct visualization of the floating mitral chords.
