Imaging Acute Airway Obstruction in Infants and Children.

This article reviews the unique anatomic features of the pediatric airway that make it particularly susceptible to respiratory distress, the imaging recommendations in children suspected of having airway obstruction, and the imaging findings of acquired nontraumatic causes of acute upper airway obstruction and lower airway obstruction.
