Europt(r)ode X : Tenth European conference on optical chemical sensors and biosensors

2008
Scientific program The conference started on Sunday evening with a welcome cocktail, the scientific program started on Monday morning with guest speaker Otto S. Wolfbeis (University of Regensburg, Germany) talking about “Optical chemical sensors and biosensors: where are we going to?” emphasizing both new developments and pioneering work. After closing his talk with the words “Let’s go for it! There’s much to be done” he was honored for his outstanding research on chemical sensors and biosensors with the Křižik Medal (Fig. 1). Five plenary lectures, 10 invited lectures and 34 oral presentations from all over the world covered the scientific fields of fluorescence methods, high-throughput sensors, interferometric sensors, sensor arrays, immunosensors, nanostructures for sensing, gas sensors, bioreceptors, and surface chemistry.
