Cationic azo dyes of the general formula I DOLLAR DOLLAR F1 in the A is a number from 0 to 8, DOLLAR AR · 1 · hydrogen, nitro, halogen, C¶1¶ C¶6¶-alkyl, DOLLAR AR n · 2 · and R · 3 · independently hydrogen, C¶1¶ C¶6¶-alkyl or together with the linking carbon atom form a cyclopentyl or cyclohexyl radical, AK DOLLAR the radical of a coupling component, DOLLAR AA oxy, imino, or optionally substituted C¶1¶ -C¶6¶-alkylimino, DOLLAR ABC¶1¶ C¶6¶-alkylene interrupted by 1 or 2 nonadjacent oxy, imino, optionally substituted C¶1¶-C¶6¶-alkylimino or a radical DOLLAR may be interrupted F2, DOLLAR AQ · 1 ·, Q and Q * 2 * * 3 * are independently hydrogen, C¶1¶ C¶10¶-alkyl, by 1 to 4 nonadjacent oxy, imino and unsubstituted or substituted C¶1¶-C¶4¶-alkylimino groups may be interrupted and which may be substituted with hydroxy, halogen or phenyl, and Q and Q · 1 · · · 2 together with the si e linking nitrogen atom form a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic radical with or without nitrogen or oxygen as a further hetero atom, and DOLLAR I3 represent the equivalent of an anion, DOLLAR A amines as their intermediates, processes for their preparation, their use for dyeing and printing natural or synthetic substrates as well as their mixtures.
