The relation of serum levels of transferring, ferritin, folic acid and vitamin B_(12) in pregnant women to the eugenic

2011
Objective To investigate the relation between the serum levels of transferring, ferritin, folic acid and vitamin B12 in pregnant women and the eugenic. Methods Serum specimens were collected from pregnant(150) and non-pregnant women(30) respectively.Serum transferrin was detected with immunoturbidimetry on automatic biochemistry analyzer, ferritin, folic acid and vitamin B12 were detected with chemiluminescence immunoassay. Results Serum folic acid and vitamin B12 contents were gradually decreased with gestation. There was no significant difference in the levels of serum folic acid and vitamin B12 between women in their first trimester of pregnancy and control subjects;however serum folic acid and vitamin B12 were significantly lower in middle and late pregnancy than in control.Neonatal body weight was positively correlated with the levels of folic acid and B12.Ferritin level was significantly lower. Conclusion Serum levels of transferring, ferritin, folic acid and vitamin B12 are related to eugenics.Detection oferum transferring, ferritin, folic acid and vitamin B12 may help to determine whether alimentary deficiency exists in pregnant women, understand fetal nutrition and growth status, and provide the basis for corresponding early intervention therapy.
