Proposal for “Standardization of the Body Surface Potential Mapping System”

1986
We propose a standardized data file format for the floppy disk to make possible mutual exchange of data files between different BSPM systems. Each BSPM system has its original arrangement of leads. This makes a universal data transformation method between all kinds of BSPM systems complicated. Therefore we propose 128 standard display points that are uniformly arranged on the BSPM. Standard display points may not be the real positions. Potentials at standard display points are calculated from data collected by an arbitrary BSPM system. In the standardized data file, these calculated data are stored instead of original data. For display, these standardized data are re-transformed to the data corresponding to the positions of another BSPM system’s leads. With this method, only one pair of programs for transformation between standardized data and system data is necessary.
