This article introduces the concepts of digital identity and identity and access management (IAM). It also discusses the constituents that identity professionals serve, compares and contrasts business-to-employee (B2E) and business-to-consumer (B2C) identity use cases, and considers IAM technologies from the perspective of administrative, or admin-time, technologies.
