Development and introduction of regular packing for use over and between plates in heat and mass transfer towers

1983
Workers at the State Scientific Research and Design Institute of the Nitrogen Industry and Products of Organic Synthesis (GIAP) in the USSR have developed and introduced into the industry several types of novel regular packing for use in thin beds above and between plates as entrainment separators to improve the efficiency of heat and mass transfer equipment. These separators require a small amount of metal for fabrication and have a low hydraulic resistance. The packings are simple in design and, therefore, easily fabricated and installed.
