Granuloma de colesterol de mama, una lesión que simula carcinoma mamario

2016
Cholesterol granuloma of the breast is an unusual benign condition and seldom reported in the medical literature. It is a response to the extrusion of lipid and its breakdown products or to the located hematoma. It is characterized by the presence of foreing-body giant cells surrounding large number of cholesterol crystals. Its recognition is important because it can be clinically, mammographically, and grossly confused with carcinoma. A case in a 54-year-old asymptomatic woman is described.
