Development in Researches on Seawater Intrusion of Coastal Areas

2004
The seawater intrusion of coastal areas has been a focus of common concern in the world. The factors affecting seawater intrusion are quite a lot , of which the artificial one plays a chief part. The manner of seawater intrusion varies with local conditions. The more serious one is the seawater intrusion in porous aquifers. The abrupt interface model and the saltwater-freshwater transition zone model have their respective practicability in the study. Owing to its more applicable value, the latter will be a major research target. This paper summarizes the actuality of the seawater intrusion of coastal areas and the achievement of the study in the past 40 years, analyses the difficulties in research work, and thus provides a favorable foundation for further study.
