Solar evaporation of fluoride wastes

1976
Management of wastes, predominately NH/sub 4/OH and NH/sub 4/F, at Exxon's Richland nuclear fuel fabrication plant involves addition of sulfuric acid followed by concentration by solar evaporation in a lagoon. Physical properties of the flexible liners used to form the lagoon was tabulated, and a discussion of the lagoon construction was given. Factors effecting the choice of favorable areas for open solar evaporation in the U.S. were described. (DDA)
