The Applied Research of Thomas Model in the Pool Fire Risk Assessment in Fire Embankment of Dichloropropane Storage Tank Area

2012
As an accident form of high incidence and serious consequence in the chemical companies, pool fire is with the characteristics of high temperature and high radiation, which poses a great threat to fire safety for the flammable liquid storage tank area. This article takes a dichloropropane storage tank area in a chemical company of Tianjin for an example in accordance with the basic theory of the pool fire, and build the fire risk assessment model of pool fire in the fire embankment of dichloropropane storage tank area making the use of the Thomas model and the radiation intensity and damage/failure criterion. Influence sphere of pool fire accident in the fire embankment is calculated and analyzed. The results show that when the pool fire happens to the tank which is nearest to the production equipment, resulting in the death and the equipment and buildings are completely damaged, the passers-by, vehicles, irrigation loaded vehicles and abandoned buildings covering the nearby plant roads and the both sides of the abandoned buildings are damaged to a certain extent, the production equipment will not be damaged, and the production personnel inside the production equipment will not be injured.
