Study on α-Ni/γ-Al_2O_3 catalysts for methanation of carbon monoxide

The effects of preparation methods of α-Ni/γ-Al2O3 catalysts and gas hourly space velocity on methanation of carbon monoxide were investigated in a continuous flow fixed-bed reactor.The α-Ni/γ-Al2O3 (w(Ni)=15%) prepared by grind-mixing method showed better activity than the others,over this catalyst,the selectivity to methane was over 90% and CO conversion was near to 100% under the reaction conditions:n(CO)/n(H2)=1/3,atmospheric pressure,T=593K and GHSV=2500h-1.The catalysts were characterized by means of BET,XRD and TEM techniques.
