Neutron total cross sections and resonance parameters of /sup 63//sub 29/Cu and /sup 65//sub 29/Cu. I. [10 to 150 KeV]

1977
High resolution neutron total cross sections of the isotopes of copper have been measured from about 10 to 150 keV by using 5 nsec electron pulses and a flight path of 78.2 m. From the area and shape analysis of the transmission and total cross section data, precise values of the resonance parameters, such as E/sub 0/, GAMMA/sup 0//sub n/, GAMMA/sup 1//sub n/, J/sup ..pi../, etc., have been determined. For example, for /sup 63/Cu many s-wave resonances have been observed from 10 to 150 keV giving values of sub J:1//sub 1/ =(2.7+-0.3) keV, /sub J:/sub 2/ = (4.0+-0.5) keV, /sub J:/sub 1/+2///sub 2/ = (1.63+- 0.13) keV, S/sub 0/ J-italic=1 = (3.0+-0.6)x10/sup -4/ eV/sup -1///sup 2/, S/sub 0/ J-italic=2 = (2.+-0.5) x 10/sup -4/ eV/sup -1///sup 2/, S/sub 0/ J-italic=1,2 = (2.5 +- 0.4) x 10/sup -4/ eV/sup -1///sup 2/.For /sup 65/Cu s-wave resonances were observed giving values of /sub J//sub 1/ = (3.6 +- 0.4) keV, /sub J:/sub 2// = (5.0+-0.7) keV, /sub J//sub 1//sub +//sub 2/ = (2.12 +- 0.19) keV, S/sub 0/ J-italic=1 = (2.9 +- 0.6) x 10/sup -4/ eV/sup -1///sup 2/, S/sub 0/ J-italic=2= (1.8 +- 0.5) x 10/sup -4/ eV/sup -1///sup 2/, S/sub 0/more » J-italic=1,2 = (2.3+-0.4) x 10/sup -4/ eV/sup -1///sup 2/.« less
