At a Crossroad

“… [T]he competitiveness of the United States and our nation’s capacity for innovation hinge fundamentally on a strong system of graduate education.” So begins The Path Forward: The Future of Graduate Education in the United States (Wendler et al., 2010). But the same report suggests that our system of graduate education is facing what are perhaps unprecedented challenges that could go a long way toward revealing and, likely, exacerbating vulnerabilities.
