Discuss in Round Rotation Policy of Hierarchical Route in Wireless Sensor Networks

2006
Sensor network consisting of nodes with limited battery power and wireless communications are deployed to collect environmental information. The LEACH protocol is an excellent route protocol for WSN. According to the randomizing and rotation, the cluster heads are chosen to transmit the base station in LEACH protocol. Compared to the LEACH protocol, some enhanced protocols like TEEN and APTEEN achieve great improvement. When to rotate the round and how long each round last are seldom discussed in these protocols. In this paper, we focus on the round rotation policy and give an algorithm on when to rotate round. In this algorithm, the round rotation takes place at the time when the energy consumed by anyone of the cluster head nodes overtop the energy threshold broadcasted by BS. The results of simulation show that this algorithm performs better than LEACH. The network longevity can be prolonged by the algorithm
