Correlation of PLCE1 gene polymorphism in the smokers/non-smokers,drinking/non-drinking,and BMI subgroups with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

Objective To correlate rs2274223 polymorphism within PLCE1 gene polymorphism in the smokers/non-smokers,drinking/non-drinking,and BMI subgroups with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).Methods The single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) were genotyped by the Sequenom iPLEX Chips in 7673 cases and 11013 controls.The distribution of genotypes and allele frequencies were compared among subgroups.Results The genotype frequency of rs2274223 polymorphism within PLCE1 gene was of statistical significance between the cases and the controls(P0.05).AG,GG are dangerous factor for ESCC.ESCC had significant association with smokers/non-smokers,drinking/non-drinking and BMI subgroups in SNP rs2274223(P0.05).However,smoking,drinking,and BMI did not significantly alter the effect of SNP rs2274223.Conclusions The SNP rs2274223 polymorphism within PLCE1 gene was associated with the susceptibility of ESCC.However,smoking,drinking,and BMI did not significantly alter the effect of SNP rs2274223.
