Physical Phenomena in Random Microstructures: Selected Applications

2001
In the first four chapters of this book we presented the underlying mathematical principles and tools necessary for the modeling and analysis of complicated microstructures, including statistical inference from data on spatial random patterns (chapter 4). In chapter 5 the discussion concentrated on the specific stochastic descriptors, problems, and methods that are directly associated with modeling microheterogeneous media. Special attention was devoted to porous and elastic solid media, which comprise a wide and important class of man-made and natural materials.
