Effects of Cutting Diameter on Survival Rate and Qualities of Seedlings to Low Branches in Ramie Cutting Plant

2011
With four ramie varieties in Hunan of Zhongzhu No 1,Xiangzhu No 3,Tris-1 and the new strain R057 as materials,it was studied that the effects of different cutting diameters to the seedling survival rate, stem height increment, root dry weight per plant and branching characteristics of cutting plant to the low branches in ramie. The results showed that seedling survival rate, stem height increment and root dry weight per plant in four varieties of cutting plant to low branches of ramie followed down by cutting diameter 0.6 cm0.8 cm0.4 cm treatments with significant differencesamong the treatments. The branch number, the length of the minimum and maximum branches showed the same resultes. So the optimum treatment of cutting diameter would be about 0.6 cm.The different varieties had the different expression, but the variety of R057 was the best one, following by the variety Tris-1 on three key characters of seedling survival rate, branch numbers per plant and lowest-branch location.
