Introduction to topology

Abstract This chapter represents a short introduction to general topology. Here, basic concepts in point set topology (topological spaces, continuous maps, metric spaces, constructions of topological spaces, compactness, connectedness) are discussed. Then, an introduction to algebraic topology, such as homotopy and winding numbers, is presented.
