The article is a review of the literature devoted to the description of the biodegradable polymer poly-D, L-lactide-co-glycolide (PLGA). The synthesis, biodegradirovanie, as well as the benefits of using PLGA in pharmacy. Its use in medicine due to the fact that in vivo it is completely decomposed into non-toxic products involved in the metabolism. The value of PLGA is that it does not cause allergic, inflammatory and other adverse reactions in the body in the article gives an overview of the existing drugs on the basis of PLGA (Oktreotid, Kaltsitonin, Somatulin, Sandostain Lahr), as well as examples of research to create nanocarriers PLGA already known and absolutely new drug substances, aimed at treating various kinds of diseases. However, the development of long-acting dosage forms based on PLGA affect the rheological properties of blood are lacking, although this trend is very relevant.
