PENGGUNAAN ADSORBEN HIDROFOBIK SILIKA-AMINOSILAN-FENIL TERHADAP PERUBAHAN KADAR PATCHOULI ALCOHOLMINYAK NILAM (Pogostemon cablin)

2014
Patchouli oil is an essential oil produced by patchouli plant (Pogostemon cablin) and used in many fragrance industries. Patchouli alcohol has high molecule weight thus used as fixatives. Patchouli alcohol is the most hydrophilic component in patchouli oil. As a quality parameter, patchouli alcohol content minimum requirement is about 30% in SNI 06-2385-2006. Hence, improvement method in achieving higher patchouli alcohol content should be studied. The method used in this study to improved patchouli alcohol content was adsorption. The effect of ethanol as a solvent was studied too. Silica-aminosilanphenyl (SAF) adsorbent with hydrophobic properties was used. The SAF adsorbent heights for adsorption without ethanol solvent were 0,5 and 1,5 cm
