ADENOID CYSTIC CARCINOMA OF ANTERIOR PART OF THE TONGUE : A CASE REPORT

2017
Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is a rare malignant epithelial minor salivary gland neoplasm.  Its aggressive in nature and distinguish ACC from other benign and malignant neoplasms is important. A 65 year-old female presented with tumor on the antero-lateral part of the tongue which is highly immune to malignancy, extending from mid line to right lateral border and from the tip to almost middle. Histologically, presence of basaloid epithelial cells with multiple cylindrical cyst like spaces with eosinphic mucinous material in the duct like spaces was noticed. Immunohistologically, positive reactivity for Ki-67, CD-43, CD-117 and EMA confirmed the diagnosis as ACC.
