2020
Objective: The aim of our study was to examine the third-year students' of the physiotherapy and rehabilitation department who took sportsman health and rehabilitation courses, physical fitness test results, and the perspectives on physical fitness tests. Material and methods: 64 volunteer students participated in the study. The students' views on the concept of physical fitness were examined with the help of questions prepared by the researchers. The physical fitness performances of the students were evaluated using the flamingo balance test, standing long jump test, touch the disc test, sit-reach test, bent arm grip test, shuttle test, and 10x5 shuttle run test. Results: 43 female (67.2%) and 21 male (32.8%) students participated in the study. The average age of the students was 20.95 ± 0.97 years. There was a statistically significant difference in all tests except for the sit-and-reach test, by gender (p <0.05). Female students performed better in the Flamingo balance test and touch the disc test, while male students were better in other tests. A statistically significant negative correlation was found between body mass index values of female students and bent arm grip test and standing long jump scores (r1: -0.497, r2: -0.463; p<0.01). Conclusion: The results of our study showed that students did not connect with physical fitness levels and their ability to meet professional practices physically, and their physical fitness test scores were similar to age groups.
