2000
Pusan (Korea) offers a wide variety of public transport modes with varying degrees of services and fare levels. The main ones are buses and metro, which together carry 45% of total daily passenger trips. In addition, there are taxis that carry about 1 million person trips/day. This paper describes the public transport system in Pusan, discussing the system characteristics, operations, and usage by people. The focus is on 3 main modes of transit: bus, metro, and taxi. Each mode is described followed by a discussion of the current situation. Future plans for and policy issues of public transit in Pusan are also examined.
