Synthesis and polymerization of N-(1-anthryl)citraconimide

A new monomer containing both a diene (anthryl nucleus) and philodiene (citraconimide ring) function was synthesized and polymerized. A polymer having a normal structure was obtained only by anionic mechanism (n-butyl lithium) while a polymer with cycloadduct structure was synthesized by thermal polymerization.
