Thermodynamic and Ballistic Fundamentals for Designing Rocket Engines Using Solid Propellants (Chapter V)

1971
Abstract : Ordinarily the problem of the interior ballistics of solidpropellant rocket engines (SPRE) is solved in conformity with the monomial power law of fuel combustion. The suggested method permits one to find the process of change in pressure for any law of combustion of a ballistite or mixture fuel. Whtn the SPRE reaches monomial mode there can be observed three clearly defined periods of functioning of the engine: autonomous combustion of the igniter; joint combustion of the igniter and fuel; and stabilization of pressure in the SPRE chamber.
