In vitro bioactivity and wound healing efficiency of 45S5 nanobioactive glass-Al2O3 composites
2020
Bioactive glass (BG) is a silicate based material, which is widely reported as a biocompatible system that is widely used in hard tissue regeneration. In the current study, to enhance the healing efficiency and in vitro bioactivity of 45S5 BG, alumina incorporated with 3 different concentrations (Al2O3-5%, 10% and 15%). Further structural properties of composites using XRD results with NaAlSi3O8 (albite) formation and the morphological properties of composites were evaluated using FESEM resulting with 40-50 nm sized particles. In vitro biomineralization was studied by immersing the composites in SBF at one day and 3 days intervals. Cell migration and proliferation study using MG-63 osteoblast cells, which eventually promote the healing process and results with 96% of cell growth.
