Location Related Communication Mode Selection and Spectrum Sharing for D2D Communications in Cellular Networks

2018
Device to device (D2D) communications enable certain cellular users to transmit message directly with each other bypassing the base station. This can result in higher performance comparing with the traditional communication way. In this paper, we analyze the mode selection and spectrum sharing problems of D2D communications in cellular networks; a location related strategy for the joint mode selection and spectrum sharing problem is proposed. Specifically, in order to obtain better performance, D2D pairs and cellular users can choose proper communication modes and share their spectrum according to the strategy. Finally, Simulations show that, under the path loss assumption, the mode selection and spectrum sharing depend highly on the relevant locations of the involved wireless terminals.
