Molecular genetic diversity of the Myoviridae family cyanophages in Lake Khövsgöl (Mongolia)

2014
The diversity of the Myoviridae family cyanophages that inhabit Lake Khovsgol was studied by analyzing g20 gene fragments. It was shown that the gene sequences of cyanomyoviruses are diverse and similar to those of the viruses from Lake Baikal. The presence of closely related virus strains in these lakes is associated with the geographical proximity, direct water connection, and similar hydrochemical parameters of the lakes.
