Proof of Concept Evaluation for an Intelligent Oven.

2017
As the senior portion of the population continues to rise considerably, age-related deterioration of the human body has become an increasing challenge and concern in the fields of health, economics and sociology. Related to these concerns, many technologies are being designed to provide cognitive and physical assistance to enable seniors living independently in their homes, to do so in more safe environments. To this end, we propose a new kitchen solution, ‘InOvUS’, which focuses on safety and reducing the risks of fire, burn and smoke inhalation. Interestingly, most evaluation works focus on technical mechanisms and algorithms validation. Our study, instead, evaluates the adoption intention and interest in InOvUS from a senior user perspective. Our method is based on the Willingness-to-Adopt concept and was tested among seniors aged 65+. The evaluation results show clear buying and use intentions for InOvUS by seniors.
